Nitriding
Nitriding is a thermochemical treatment used to produce hard surface layers on workpieces that contain nitrides (compounds of nitrogen with iron and/or nitride-forming alloying elements), for example, oxynitriding, gas nitriding, or plasma nitriding. (Source: DIN EN ISO 4885)
