Hardenability

Hardenability is the ability of steels to transform into martensite and/or bainite. It is often characterized as a function of the distance to the hardened surface (for example, by the hardness curve in the Strin quenching test according to ISO 642). Hardenability can be determined by calculation. (Source: DIN EN ISO 4885)
