Decarburization

Decarburization is a thermochemical treatment used to reduce the carbon content in the surface layer of a workpiece. This reduction can be partial (partial decarburization) or almost complete (complete decarburization). Both types of decarburization together are referred to as “total decarburization” (see ISO 3887). (Source: DIN EN ISO 4885)
