Cooling refers to the continuous, non-continuous, stepwise, gradual, or interrupted reduction (or treatment to reduce) of the temperature of a hot workpiece. The quenching medium should be specified accordingly (e.g., furnace, air, oil, water, polymer). (Source: DIN EN ISO 4885)
