Austenitizing

Austenitizing refers to heating a workpiece and holding it at the austenitizing temperature so that the microstructure consists predominantly of austenite. The minimum required temperature depends on the heating rate and the composition of the steel. The holding time depends on the heating conditions. (Source: DIN EN ISO 4885)
