Annealing

Annealing is a heat treatment consisting of heating and holding at a suitable temperature, followed by cooling, so that a microstructure close to equilibrium is achieved at room temperature. It should be noted that this definition is very general. It is therefore advisable to specify the purpose of annealing more precisely. (Source: DIN EN ISO 4885)
